Leadership Camp
Each year, the Georges River Grammar school board and committee select a group of year 11 students to become part of the leadership team, where all the students chosen have undergone a meticulous program that required them to complete a range of challenging tasks, such as community service and organising major events for the school.
Upon selection, the chosen leadership team all attend a two-day leadership camp, where they partake in activities that aim in specifically developing their leadership and teamwork skills. On the night of the first day, the students and a selected group of the school committee decide on which students’ skills best suit leadership positions such as those of the captains, house prefects and the senior prefect.
This selection is carried out with utmost care and consideration to ensure that the school will be represented and supported by the best students. Amongst other things, the main role of the leadership team is to act as a mentoring body for all those students in secondary school, especially dedicating themselves to the young and fresh students of year 7. With the skills of leadership and compassion that were practiced on the leadership camp, the team are able to act as an older brother or sister to the young students, offering them advice and guidance through their journey in high school.
